first of all i love you, yes, you know that.
if you've been following me for the past lots of months, you know ive been talking about this new website.
well, its finally live and in some kind of "beta" form which means, like me, it has many quirks…
while there is no way you can change me or make me better, you can change this website and make it better!
for years ive dreamt of having a centralized place on the web where my fans can hang out and interact with each other.
now we finally have that place and it’s only going to get better and better, cooler and cooler!

i had two main goals in building this site. one was to empower you to add content and shape the way the site looks by being an ever-changing, user generated webhome. second was to offer the highest quality digital downloads available on the webnet. our mp3's are 320kbps which is in fact 833333333333333% better sounding than iTunes' mp3's. apple still rules… my mp3's are just better. no biggie. but i wanted to offer more than mp3, even more than FLAC. so, this is one of the only music sites to offer AIFF, which is a full 16bit, CD quality file - no compression whatsoever. when you burn an AIFF to a CD-R, it is the same thing you get when you buy a CD from the store.

our store, BK-Mart, is 100% independently operated in-house and contains tons of clothing, posters, vinyl and interesting rarities for the "distinguished collector"… i recently forged a partnership with ATR magnetics, one of the leading tape manufacturers in the world (the best in my opinion), to be an exclusive dealer of their products. so this means, if you are a musician and prefer to record on tape like me, you can actually order reels for your band right here at benkweller.com! seriously rad! we offer all sizes from 1/4" all the way to 2".

i hope that you join me in shaping this site over the years and help nurture our incredible community of music lovers. many of the pages still look primitive and crude and its going to take some time to get everything looking great and working right. but that's the fun of beta testing. i want to thank our developers, Mixed Content, iFish and The Noise Company's power-house codemaster, Todd, for building one of the sickest custom backends we've ever seen and giving me unlimited possibilities for future adaptation and growth.

everyday i am reminded that i have the coolest fans in the world. i hope you enjoy the new site and help us make it better. after all, its not mine, its yours!! now go upload your user icon, have fun, dig in to the depths of the site and please give us your feedback and ideas. we have a long list of improvements and features that we'll be adding in the next few months - from official guitar tabs to fan photo uploads. im so glad you're on board now while the site is in its infancy.
